Internet speculations about the passing of well-known American musician and producer David Ashworth Gates are widespread today. People propagated an online disturbance without any verified information about his death.

On December 11, 1940, David Ashworth Gates was born. He is best known as the lead singer of the band Bread, frequently topped the charts in Europe and North America in the 1970s. The vocal group hall of fame accepted the band.
In 1973, Gates produced and recorded his first solo album. The album track “Suite Clouds and Rain,” reworked for the single “Clouds,” reached No. 3 on the Adult Contemporary chart and No. 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles list. After her early morning radio show, Samantha Dubois of Radio Caroline played many of the complete album versions, which became her theme song.
Sail Around the World, the second single, peaked at No. 11 on the Adult Contemporary chart and No. 50 on the singles list. According to the Billboard 200 albums chart, the album peaked at No. 107. Gates issued the album Never Let Her Go in 1975.
In June 1978, Gates released an album that combined songs from his first two solo albums with some brand-new material. The album only made it to No. 165 on the Billboard 200, but it produced another hit song, “Took the Last Train,” which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. On a 1978 episode of The Hardy Boys Mysteries, Gates and Bread appeared as extras.
Gates has reportedly been wed to high school sweetheart Jo Rita since 1959. Together, they brought up four kids: a cardiothoracic surgeon and three lawyers.
