NBA legend Scottie Pippen revealed that his oldest son, Antron, passed away Sunday at age 33.
“I am heartbroken to share with you that yesterday (Sunday) I said goodbye to my first-born son, Antron. We both share a love for basketball and had countless conversations on the subject, “said the former player in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
According to Pippen, his son suffered from chronic asthma and added that if not, he is sure he would have played in the NBA.
“He never let that stop him. Antron stayed positive and worked hard. I am proud of the man he became, ”he added.
Scottie Pippen is considered Michael Jordan’s right-hand man during his days with the Chicago Bulls, where they won six championships.
He was also one of the main characters in The Last Dance , the Netflix series that became a hit with viewers.
Antron was born in 1987, the product of Pippen’s marriage to Karen McCollum, whom he was married to from 1988 to 1990.
The legendary former player did not reveal the cause of his son’s death, but asked his followers to pray for his family.
