In 2016, Morriss had diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Morris acknowledged the illness would probably be deadly for him in a 2017 interview with WKYT, but he also reported progress following a new treatment plan.
Guy Morriss, an American football coach and player, was born on May 13, 1951, in Texas’ Colorado City. Texas A&M University-Commerce, where Morriss later rose to the position of a head football coach. He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from TCU in 1973. He was a Pro Bowl centre in the National Football League (NFL), where he played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1973 to 1983 and the New England Patriots from 1984 to 1987. He was selected in the second round of the 1973 NFL Draft.
Before going for Baylor in 2003, Morris played for Lexington for two seasons. His most well-known game as Kentucky’s head coach was when the Wildcats lost the “Bluegrass Miracle” match.
Morriss stayed at Baylor for five seasons but never stopped coaching. He served as Kentucky State’s offensive line coach during the year 2008. When Morriss was hired as the head coach of Texas A&M-Commerce in 2009, it was his third and last time leaving Kentucky for Texas.
After the season, Morriss moved from Kentucky to Baylor, but he could not repeat his Kentucky success at Waco, failing to post a winning record in five seasons as coach.
Morriss was married to Jackie Morriss and lives in Lexington, Kentucky. Five daughters—Melanie, Colleen, Kerry, Savannah, and Austin—were born to them. Moreover, the couple has five grandchildren.
