Stevia Hopkins unexpectedly passed away on January 25, 2024. The exact cause and circumstances of his death have not been informed by his family as they are keeping the cause of his death private to mourn their loss. The devastating news was announced on his Facebook page by Leslie and Steve, who expressed Stevia’s exceptional talent for his words specifically. The news was then followed by heartfelt outpourings by his fans and admirers.
Who was Stevie Hopkins?
Stevie Hopkins was a creative man who loved to create things as a serial entrepreneur. The main part of his character was his physical disability, but that disability did not truly define him. He changed people’s perception of the disability of an individual with his exceptional business talent. Stevie enjoyed taking ideas and, every time did something special and creative with those ideas. At 15, he started his almost 10 businesses with a prominent scale of success.
Stevie got an idea from 3Elove that was in his heart and decided to stick to it for the rest of his life. It all started in 2004 when his sister Annie, who was also disabled, created the wheelchair heart symbol for Dorm T-Shirt. At that time, nobody knew that the symbol would have significant potential.
In 2007, he infused 3ELove and a wheelchair heart, which symbolizes accepting people with disabilities on an equal basis. The symbol that gave strength to disabled people to embrace their disabilities and accept their challenges.
On January 20, 2009, after Annie’s death due to medical complications during a simple medical procedure, Stevie declared and celebrated January 20 as an International Day of Acceptance each year.
Stevie Hopkins cofounded 3Elove with his sister Annie to spread a message of acceptance and love to disabled people. Annie’s creativity in symbolizing the wheelchair as the heart uniting disabled people brought about a significant change in society. Annie had a goal to build a disability-owned and operated enterprise that promotes a message of empowerment and spreads a change in people’s perspective about disabilities.
Stevie worked with several disabled organizations and collaborated with designs, print conferences, and shirts. Each year, on January 20, Stevie donated hundreds of T-shirts at the International Day Acceptance event.
