On Saturday, September 16, 2023, Sergeant Larry Marino Jr., a Phillipsburg, New Jersey resident and a police officer, sadly and unexpectedly passed away.
The Phillipsburg Emergency Squad announced his death through a Facebook post that stated:
“Rest in Peace Sgt. Marino. Our thoughts & prayers are with Sgt Marino’s family & the entire Phillipsburg Police Department.”
The exact cause behind Larry Marino’s tragic death isn’t made public.
About Larry Marino:
He attended Phillipsburg High School; Larry had deep ties to the area, and his commitment to it was evident in his work.
On June 30, 2021, Sergeant Larry Marino retired. Sergeant Marino was a huge part of Law Enforcement in Warren County for 25 years.
Sergeant Marino started his career in the Juvenile Justice Commission as a Juvenile Detention Officer at Warren Acres.
He moved on to become an Alpha Boro Police Officer before finally landing in Phillipsburg. During Sergeant Marino’s career, he was a K-9 handler before taking over his final assignment supervising the School Resource Officer Program.
Sergeant Marino was an integral part of our Junior Police Academy. We wish him well in his future endeavors and thank him for his exemplary service to the youth and our community.
