Pedro Tanaka Dies During Underwater Fishing Session

Brazilian surfer Pedro Tanaka died on Friday afternoon (26) while fishing. The athlete dived with his father and friends next to a ledge in the Toque Toque region, in São Paulo.

According to information from friends, Pedro dived in area 15 to 25 meters deep. While his teammates returned to the surface, the surfer remained submerged. They dove back and found him unconscious. After removing the water, they took him to first aid, but unfortunately, he couldn’t resist.

A resident of Maresias, in São Paulo, Pedro was three times champion of São Paulo and two times Brazilian university student of surfing. He started surfing as a child, encouraged by his father.

 In addition to his passion for surfing, Pedro liked to dive and do underwater fishing.

Several of his friends paid tribute to Pedro on social media.
