Peter Aykroyd began his comedy career still in Canada, his homeland, before being called to Saturday Night Live, where he not only acted but was also a screenwriter, even receiving a nomination for the Emmy Awards, the main award on American TV.

He joined the SNL team as an actor and screenwriter in 1979, staying just one year.

Dan Aykroyd, three years older than Peter, has not yet officially commented on his brother’s death.
