Peter Aykroyd Died: What Was His Cause Of Death?

The entertainment world says goodbye to another star: the actor, the comedian, and star of the program Saturday Night Live, Peter Aykroyd, died at age 66.

The veteran NBC comedy show announced the news this weekend. He was one of its emblematic interpreters from the first years of the show, he was the brother of actor Dan Aykroyd

The oldest comedy program on world television, Saturday Night Live, announced this Saturday the death of one of its first actors who gave a hooligan stamp in the early years of the NBC program, Peter Aykroyd. The brother of actor Dan Aykroyd ( Rogues at full speed, with the Blues Brothers, emerged from SNL, Ghostbusters ), actor and screenwriter, has died at the age of 66, although little more is known about his circumstances.

As reported by Monet Magazine, the news about Peter Aykroyd was announced on Saturday Night Live’s Twitter profile, which also shared an excerpt of a frame from the show starring the comedian. The cause of death was not revealed.

Peter Aykroyd’s brother, Dan Aykroyd has not yet publicly commented on the family member’s death. He is currently participating in the promotion of the sequel to The Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters – Mais Além, which premiered in Brazil on November 18 and has the original stars in the cast.

The program was rescued in this last edition in tribute to one of those surrealist and cinematographic shorts with which those SNL pioneers stood out: The Java Junkie. In it, the late actor played a coffee addict and scoured the city in search of strong feelings.

Peter and Dan Aykroyd were born in Ottawa and in their native Canada, they began their work as comedians in a Toronto company. Success took them to the United States. Peter joined SNL in 1979 and won a Shared Emmy for Best Screenplay.

Among other films with which he collaborated with his brother are Los Caraconos, a great success of video stores around the world in the mid-1980s.

In the 90s they participated in Canada in a science fiction series PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal,  which ran for four seasons.

In 2020, their father, also named Peter Aykroyd, passed away.
