According to the letter, the musician died in his sleep on Monday, July 26.

“It breaks our hearts to share the news that prolific drummer, musician, and artist Joey Jordison passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26, 2021,” the statement reads.

In 2016, Jordison revealed that his departure from Slipknot coincided with his falling ill with a disorder called transverse myelitis and claimed that his bandmates mistook his medical problems for substance abuse.
