How Did Ahmet Calik Die? What Was His Cause Of Death?

Ahmet Calik, a Turkish soccer player and national team, was tragically killed in a car accident on the road.

ANKARA, Turkey-. Once again international football is in mourning, and this time it was for the tragic and sudden death of Ahmet Calik, a Turkish footballer and national team.

It was the morning of this Tuesday when Calik died in a car accident at 27 years of age, who died immediately so that the medical services could no longer do anything.

The accident took place, according to eyewitnesses, at 9 in the morning, Turkish time. The footballer overturned on the road that connects Ankara with Nigde.

According to Turkish reports, Ahmet Calik, who was playing as a defender for Konyaspor, lost control while traveling on the road from Ankara to Nigde, causing his car to overturn and he went off the track. No one else was with him in the vehicle.

The defender was killed after his car overturned in the Turkish capital,  Ankara while driving towards the city of  Nigde, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported. Pictures in local media showed the car seriously damaged on the side of the road.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our footballer Ahmet Calik, who has won the love of our fans and our city since the first day he arrived at our Konyaspor. My condolences to all of us, especially to the family,” lamented his current club.

Çalik had played 18 league games this season with a Konyaspor who is second in the Turkish Super League. Former Genclerbirligi and Galatasaray, with whom he won two Leagues, a Cup and a Super Cup, the defender was international for Turkey eight times, scoring a goal in a friendly against Moldova.

The Ankara-born central defender played his entire career in Turkish soccer, who in his 11 years as a professional defended the shirts of Gençlerbirliği Spor Kulübü, Galatasaray, and Konyaspor.

Ahmet Çalik had been a Konyaspor player since 2020 but during his career, he had also worn the shirts of Gençlerbirlgi and Galatasaray.

After being international in all the lower categories of the Turkish soccer team, he made his debut in a call-up with the senior team on November 6, 2015. In 2016 he was called up to play Euro 2016.
