Mime Anton Font, Founding Member Of Els Joglars, Dies

The pedagogue, mime, and founding member of the Catalan theater company Els Joglars, Anton Font, died this Saturday at the age of 89, as announced by his family in a statement and collected by Europa Press.

He also founded 1969 El Timbal – Center de Formació i Creació Escènica, the first school of scenic studies in Catalonia.

He was recognized by the French Federation of Dance and Body Expression in Europe as the “only representative of theatrical mime in the Spanish State”

Throughout his professional career, Font founded in 1969 the first school of scenic studies in Catalonia, El Timbal – Center de Formació i Creació Escènica, where prominent students such as actor Sergi López or members of the El Tricicle company have passed.

In 1976, Font was recognized by the French Federation of Dance and Body Expression in Europe (Fedacer) as the “only representative of theatrical mime in the Spanish State” .
