Yrma Lydya Gamboa case: Jesús Hernández Alcocer dies in prison

Jesús Hernández Alcocer, alleged murderer of his wife Yrma Lydya, died in the North Prison of Mexico City, journalist Joaquín López Dóriga reported through his Twitter account.

The 79-year-old lawyer was charged with the crime of femicide after, on June 23, he would have shot dead his 21-year-old partner inside the Suntory restaurant, located in the Del Valle neighborhood, Benito mayor’s office Juarez.

Hernández Alcocer had been linked to a trial that same month for his alleged responsibility in the death of Yrma Lydya, for which he was placed in preventive detention and although his defense filed an appeal to request the benefit of house arrest, arguing that the indicated was an elderly person, the control judge Juventino González Ocote rejected it and ordered four months of confinement for the complementary investigation.

Just last September 12, Hernández Alcocer had been transferred to a hospital in Ticomán, in the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office, after feeling in poor health. At the hospital, they gave him a medical check-up and two days later he returned to the penitentiary.

Sources from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that the now deceased this morning said he was in poor health, so he was transferred to the North Prison medical service at 10:45 a.m. where he was diagnosed with no vital signs.

The unit stated that it did have access to public telephones that are in the bedrooms under established hours, like other inmates, which is part of their rights.

Due to his age, he was in a dormitory with a vulnerable population due to being an older adult.
