Van Buren High School’s girls wrestling team member Lillian Jones, a state champion, passed away over the weekend, per the school authorities. Monday night, the district’s spokeswoman, Brittany Ransom, issued a statement.

“The Van Buren School District was shocked to hear over the weekend that one of its students had passed away. Senior Lillian Jones was an excellent athlete who had won two wrestling state championships.”

She was regarded as having “an upbeat attitude and a loyal nature” by her wrestling coach John Petree. Didn’t immediately know her death’s specifics. Officials delivered her body to the state medical examiner’s office in Little Rock, where it will be determined how and why she passed away.
