On Friday, December 17, 2022, Jana Sanderson McEachern, a former Miss Alabama winner and Top-10 finisher in the Miss America competition, passed away at 43.
The authorities don’t specify the specific factor that caused her death. The College Heights Baptist Church, 411 Rabbittown Road, Glencoe, Alabama 35905, will host services on Monday. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2 pm after the visitation from 12 pm to 2 pm.

On January 31, 1979, Jana Sanderson McEachern was born. McEachern attended Glencoe High School after growing up there. After graduating, she worked as a marketing specialist and photographer for the Gadsden Chamber of Commerce, Joe McEachern Photography, J&D Farms, and the School of Aviation at Auburn University.
Judy, her mother, is a primary school teacher. Marcus and John are two of her siblings, and she also has two sisters, Jill and Margie. Her father, Brian Sanderson, passed away when she was three years old.
She was a Southern Baptist growing up. Her main pastime is collecting Pez accessories. On November 6, 2004, she wed Danny Joe McEachern at the Silver Church in Post McClellan, Alabama.
When McEachern was a student at Samford University and competing as Jana Sanderson, she took first place in the Miss Alabama 2000 pageant and earned a degree in communications. She placed among the top 10 contestants at Miss America 2001.
