Adnan Afaq passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024. He had been battling stage four stomach cancer at SIUT in Karachi. His close friend Armaan Raheem of the Arts Council Pakistan (ACP) confirmed the tragic news of his unfortunate death.
The musician had been hospitalized due to complications related to stomach cancer. His death has robbed the nation of a brilliant musician and has created a void in Pakistan’s music industry which can never be filled. All those who had the privilege of knowing him and training under his care will forever feel his absence.

Adnan Afaq was a veteran Pakistani musician and renowned guitarist. He was one of the best guitarists in Pakistan and was a devoted mentor who was training the next generation of musicians. He was Head of the Music Department at the Art Council of Pakistan.
Adnan Afaq was teaching guitar to young aspiring musicians and was dedicated to shaping Pakistan’s music industry. He had graced many live concerts of famous singers with his talents and played for many notable Pakistani pop singers. He worked with bands like Powerhouse on critically acclaimed projects like Arsh and Circle and proved his diverse musical prowess and undeniable artistry.
Affectionately known as Adnan Vai, Adnan was not just a musician, but he was also committed to training the next generation of aspiring artists. He studied jazz and modern fusion in the United Kingdom. He lent his wealth of knowledge and expertise to his students at institutions like NAPA, where his diploma programs provided opportunities for young talent to learn and grow as musicians.
