Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office updated in their statement about the distressing incident that occurred on Monday morning, January 29, 2024, at around 2:50 a.m. at Napoleon’s Reloaded bar in Jefferson Township. The officials reached the location after a call for a shooting report. Upon reaching the location, authorities found the dead body of a male in the parking lot of the bar. The victim was reportedly shot in the body.
The victim was later identified as Darnell Pate, a dedicated security officer and black law enforcement officer who was off-duty at the time of the shooting. According to the community, Darnell was a dedicated officer who touched the lives of many people in the Dayton community due to his incredible services and kind personality. He was considered the pillar of his community, and his sudden and shocking departure greatly affected them.
