An Unknown Individual, died at Daytona International Speedway Crash

Awful news has appeared, according to representatives of NASCAR, the organization that owns (DIS) Daytona International Speedway. A driver passed away, and another was injured in an “on-track incident” at the racetrack on Saturday. This ‘on-track incident’ occurred during a practice session.

Our prayers and sympathy are with those victims; one of them passed away, and the other one is battling with serious injuries.

How did the accident happen on the track of DIS?

An International GT race series statement said that a Put-in-Bay resident businessman died in a horrifying incident on Saturday, 28 October 2023, in Daytona Beach, Florida. The incident happened during an Audi Club track rental session, according to the Daytona International Speedway.

Sadly, the driver died after being brought to the hospital. However, according to Charlotte, North Carolina-based professional racing car driver Mike Skeen said:

“Today was a sad day at the race track. My friend and client, Mark Mathys, passed away during an incident on track during IGT practice at Daytona,”

Mark owned the Put-in-Bay Resort and Bay Lodging, which he sold last year in a multi-million-dollar deal. A racing news website, Co., announced a death at the race on Saturday, although it kept the victim’s name confidential.

The statement began, ” we confirm the death of a driver who was taken to a nearby hospital following a fatal incident during International GT’s practice session at Daytona International Speedway.”

Regarding the incident that led to Mathys’s death, International GT did not offer any details. Our thoughts and prayers are with the driver’s family during this difficult time. We want to send our best regards for a speedy recovery to the second driver.

Funeral Details:

As we previously mentioned, while it is true that an event occurred during on-track practice, neither NASCAR nor the police have officially admitted that Mark was passed in the deadly incident. The identities of the two drivers, one of whom may be Mark and the other may be someone who was hurt or killed, are not disclosed.

We can offer prayers for the two of them, as well as our sympathies to the man who passed away and the injured person who is battling for his life.
