Thomas William Selleck was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 29, 1945. His family eventually relocated to Los Angeles, California. During the 1970s, Selleck supported himself as a model and gained modest roles in films and television projects after deciding to pursue acting. Selleck was a gifted collegiate basketball player who received a scholarship to the University of Southern California.
The Wide World of Mystery, Marcus Welby, M.D., The Young and the Restless, Charlie’s Angels, and Taxi were just a few of the T.V. shows in which he appeared.
Selleck eventually returned to the big screen after being banned by CBS from appearing in the 1981 movie Raiders of the Lost Ark owing to series commitments. Alongside Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson, he starred in the wildly successful comedy Three Men and a Baby, which became the top-grossing movie in the United States in 1987. Later, Selleck starred in Three Men and a Little Lady’s 1990 prequel as well as the films Quigley Down Under, Mr Baseball, In and Out, and The Love Letter.
From 1970 through 1982, Selleck was wed to model Jacquelyn Ray. In 1987, he married Jilly Joan Mack, an actress, who is still his wife. Hannah Margaret is the only daughter of the couple.
