The Mayor Of Tibás, Carlos Cascante, Dies At 57

The mayor of Tibás, Carlos Luis Cascante Duarte, passed away on May 16 at the age of 57.

The death of the local ruler is recorded in the Civil Consultation System of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) and was also reported through social networks by the deputy and pre-candidate Roberto Thompson Chacón, as well as by the mayor of Cartago, Mario Redondo Poveda.

Cascante Duarte, who was hospitalized for complications associated with the new coronavirus, was born on February 11, 1964, was married and had three children.

He had a degree in Business Administration from the Inter-American University and a master’s degree in Information Technology from the National University (UNA).

Before reaching the maximum office of the Municipality of Tibás in 2016, he stood out as Vice Minister of Science and Technology between 2007 and 2010. He also integrated several boards of directors and councils related to that sector.

This is the second death suffered by the leadership of the Tibaseño city council, since on February 8, 2020, the then deputy mayor and deputy mayor elect (she would renew her appointment on May 1 of that year), Ana Cristina Sancho Méndez, died.
