On March 12, 1956, Simon Emmerson was born. He was the group’s creator and an English record producer, DJ, guitarist, and musical director of Lush. The Imagined Village, a collaboration project from several roots artists, was also primarily organized by him. Emmerson contributed to this CD as well.
Under the alias Simon Booth, he played guitar on the Everything. Still, the Girl’s debut album Eden was a member of the bands Working Week and Weekend and produced music for Baaba Maal and Manu Dibango earlier in his career. Emmerson had a strong eye for birds.
The Imagined Village, a collaboration project from several roots artists, was also primarily organized by him. On this album, Emmerson also performed.
Emmerson received a 1995 Grammy nomination for his production work on the album Firin’ in Fouta by Baaba Maal.
