Shane Ferrer was a 28-year-old woman who shifted with her family from the Philippines to Sydney, Australia, in November 2022 for her passion for studying and starting a new career, but her vision to start a new career in Sydney became a nightmare when she was diagnosed with cancer, just two months after moving to Sydney.
On January 2023, Shane was diagnosed with stage three tongue cancer that was spreading fast and needed urgent surgery to save her life. Shane’s throat was bulging out due to a tumor, and doctors had advised reconstructing some of her tongue and neck parts to remove the lymph nodes and tumors, which will then be followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Shane went for the surgery with the help of donations, including the First One Education Migration Philippines, South Sydney College, and many of her well-wishers donated an amount to save her life.
In June, Shane posted on her Facebook page and stated that she survived the cancer but it was not the ultimate relief for her. On 22 October, she posted on her Facebook page that she was again admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, pneumothorax, and COVID-19.
The cause of her death can be the reason of her health issue, but her family and official resources have not disclosed it. However, the circumstances of her death will soon be shared once it is available.
