The act planned by the expert did not go according to plan and for reasons that are still under investigation, Richard Sheffield had to make an emergency landing.

A tragedy mourns the citizens of Jonesborough in the state of Tennessee in the United States after a professional skydiver lost his life after plummeting during the ceremony prior to a high school football game.

The victim of the accident was identified as Richard Sheffield, 55 years old and known as an experienced skydiver who was summoned to perform an entertainment act which was scheduled to take place before the match began.

Unfortunately, the act planned by the expert did not go according to plan and for reasons that are still under investigation, Sheffield had to make an emergency landing. The maneuvers that the man had to carry out to try to control the situation were recorded on video, however, the impact with the earth at high speed was fatal.

In the video published by WJHL-TV, it can be seen how Richard’s descent is carried out in an uncontrolled manner and although the effort made by the man is seen, it was not possible to avoid the high-speed impact that ends his life.

Richard Sheffield leaves behind his wife Kim Sheffield and twin sons named Casey and Stacey. In a dialogue with News Channel 11, Kim Sheffield, quite moved, referred to the relationship she had with her husband as well as the respect she had for Richard’s passion.

“We just take care of each other and you know we’re just a very close family. You know the kids, they talked to their dad every day on the way to work in the morning… And Richard said I want to jump out of a plane, you know like dad did and he said I’ve figured out how to do it and I I’m going to go, if you don’t want to go, that’s fine and I said ok, I’ll try ”,

His daughter Stacey sent through her social networks a heartfelt message in memory of her deceased father

“Today just doesn’t feel real, and the hardest day of my life (…) Yesterday we lost one of the most important people in our lives, my dad. I am very grateful for the relationship we had. We talk every day, several times a day,” said the young woman.

Pilot escapes from Cuba
The man was identified as Rubén Martínez, 29, who landed this Friday in southeastern Florida, in the United States, with a Russian-made plane and immediately declared himself a deserter from the Cuban regime, airport authorities reported.

The incident took place around 11:30 in the morning. The pilot arrived aboard a single-engine Russian Antonov AN-2 plane at the Dade-Collier airfield, located in the Everglades, the enormous wetland reserve that covers South Florida, Miami airport officials said.

Meanwhile, agents from the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrived at the landing site to investigate what happened, Florida airport sources said, so the pilot is expected to start an immigration process to legalize his status, although, with the new guidelines of the Biden government, the future that this may have is uncertain.
