Blues and R&B vocalist Peggy Adams was well-known in the US. She was born in Opp, Alabama, on June 25, 1948, but spent much of her childhood in Pensacola, Florida. She spent her entire life in Los Angeles, California.
She occasionally goes by her former name, Peggy Scott. At Pensacola State College, she is frequently called “The Tiny Woman with the Mighty Voice.”
While she was a teenager, she went on tour with Ben E. King and had three songs that reached the Top 40: “Lover’s Holiday” in July 1968, “Pickin’ Wild Mountain Berries” in November 1968, and “Soulshaker” in February 1969. A duet act with Jo Jo Benson was involved. She recorded her first solo album under Jimmy Lewis’ direction, available on October 22, 1996.
The album “Help Yourself” sold many copies and reached #1 on the Top Blues Albums chart as well as #9 on the R&B chart, and #72 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
