On June 12, 2023, Mark Sertterh, 46, died tragically. He was the director of Shelter House Lowa and a resident of Coralville. Friends and family were grieved.
Shelter House Iowa City reported Mark Sertterh’s passing in the following Facebook post:
“We are devastated to convey the news of Mark Sertterh’s death. We miss Mark with every fibre of our being because he was a relentless advocate for the clients and visitors of Shelter House. May he get some sleep”
In addition to his wife, Jennie, sons Riley and Jaryn, parents Michael and Mary, brother Matt (Jackie) Sertterh, sister Michelle (Chris) Casel, nieces and nephews Mason Sertterh and Allie and Joe Casel, his in-laws Lanny and Judy Hartgrave, and a large number of other relatives, Mark was also survived by his wife, Jennie. His maternal and paternal grandparents died before him.
The details of his death are unknown, and everyone is curious to learn what caused him to pass away.
On Friday, June 16, 2023, there will be a visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at North Liberty’s First United Methodist Church.
At 10:30 a.m., funeral services will be held. Ridgewood Cemetery will be the site of burial. In honour of Mark, attendees are welcome to wear anything comfortable.
About Mark Sertterh:
On February 8, 1977, Mark Sertterh was born in Albia, Iowa. He obtained a degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Iowa in 1999 after graduating from Albia High School in 1995.
Mark wed Jennie Hartgrave on June 10, 2006, and Jaryn and Riley were born into this union.
Mark enjoyed coaching his sons in many sports, golf, fishing, and tailgating. He was a devoted supporter of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. Mark was also an avid sports fan. His family remained close to Iowa City, where Mark originally worked for Systems Unlimited before serving as the assistant director at the Shelter House for more than 10 years.
