Karel “Twisten” Ašbrener, a 19-year-old Valorant esports player from the Czech Republic who has been playing for Team Vitality since November 11, 2022, recently passed away.
His death was confirmed on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in a Vitality post that stated:
“This devastating loss deeply saddens us, and our first thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family in this difficult time. The whole Team Vitality organization is devastated by this news, and we will be stopping communication for the rest of the day”
Although the circumstances behind his suicide are unknown, everyone is heartbroken and in mourning after learning of this dreadful news and mourning his death.

About Twisten Ašenbrener:
Ašenbrener has been a professional VALORANT player since September 2020, and he most recently played for BIG before joining Vitality in November 2022.
He made his international debut at VCT LOCK//IN in Brazil and competed for the organization in the 2023 VCT EMEA league.
After Vitality’s loss to Leviatán, the Czech opened up, confessing that he missed the start of their news conference because he was dealing with a “hard time” during Red Bull Home Ground in December 2022.
The 19-year-old revealed that he had been suffering from depression for over two years and had received tremendous support from the VALORANT community.
