HC Anthony Grant’s daughter Jayda Grant was 20-years-old at death.
A joint statement was released by UD President Dr. Eric Spina and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan.
“On behalf of the entire University of Dayton community, it is with devastating heartache we mourn the passing of Jayda Grant. We extend our deepest sympathies to Anthony, Chris, and their entire family. They have our unconditional love and support. We pray for their comfort and peace and support their need for privacy during this period of immeasurable grief,”
Jayda Danielle Grant was born on August 22, 2001, in Gainesville, FL. Many of her friends lovingly called her ‘Jay’ for being the only girl among her other siblings, AJ, Preston, Makai, and Brandon Harrell (02/06/99).
For her primary education, she went to Robious Elementary School (Virginia) and Holy Spirit Catholic (Alabama), where she practiced her love for reading books. Moreover, she went to Oklahoma Christian School, where she learned and played basketball and ran track.
The family soon relocated to Dayton. Jayda’s passion for running led her to Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School (Class of 2019), where she competed in the 4×400, 200M, and 400M races.
Moreover, she decided to go to the University of Dayton, where she sought a degree in Psychology for her graduation.
Jayda holds a strong point of view on all the social justice issues; she was a profound supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. She was born with a golden heart that cared for everyone, especially her dear ones.
