The world of salsa is in mourning. Just a few hours ago, the news of the death of Héctor Rey, one of the most popular singers in the history of music in Puerto Rico, was confirmed. Popularly, he was known as Guaraguao de la salsa. A genre that, of course, gave him many joys throughout his life.
Héctor Rey managed to mark a before and after with the release of great hits such as Te propongo, Ya no es lo mismo, or even Ay amor. Songs with which he managed to win the love of each and every one of his followers. For that same reason, we are dealing with an artist who, of course, will be difficult to forget.
The man known as Guaraguao de la salsa entered a hospital in Carolina, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday, January 24. And all as a consequence of a very strong pain. This was made known by the artist’s own manager after speaking with the Colombian media outlet CaracolNoticias.
“Héctor Rey entered a health center at dawn on January 24 in his native country after presenting health problems,” the aforementioned media outlet begins by saying after his conversation with the singer’s manager. “However, it wasn’t until the next day that he passed away,” he said.
The truth is that we are facing a sad loss for true lovers of salsa. For years, Héctor Rey has become a protagonist in the Latin music industry for releases such as those already mentioned, as well as many others. All of them have known how to mark a before and after in numerous aspects.
Despite the time he has been in the industry, Héctor Rey has always known how to adapt in every way. In fact, he was really active on many digital platforms. What’s more, it was quite common for him to post videos to promote his career. Be that as it may, Puerto Rican music is mourning this loss. Rest in peace.
