Harris Rosen started his career as a salesman at Waldorf Astoria in New York and worked in various hotels, including the New Yorker Hotel and several Hilton hotels. Later, he joined the Walt Disney Company and served there as a director of hotel planning; however, his boss there terminated him by saying that they did not think he would ever become a company man. Rosen saw hardships in his early career phase after the termination with no money and unemployment.

In 1974, he purchased the bankrupt 256-room Quality Inn with its buffet bar on the international drive. 1993 he established a Tangelo Park program to benefit the community’s poor side. On October 31, 1995, he founded the Rosen Hotel and Resorts’ second full-service conventional hotel named Omni Rosen.

In the same year, he established an insurance agency named Provlnsure, a risk management consulting company. 2002, he built the Rosen College of Hospitality Management by donating $18 million to the University of Central Florida.

In 2003, he purchased the 255-acre east of the Orange County Convention Center. On May 24, 2005, the U.S. Dream Academy in Washington, D.C., gave him the president award for the Tangelo Park pilot program. On January 3, 2015, the King Center Atlanta awarded him with Coretta Scott King A.N.G.E.L. In 2016, he was awarded the Public Service Citizen of the Year award for contributing to Tangelo Park.

In October 2017, he purchased the Red Roof Inn International and Clarion International Drives. Rosen had also partnered with Rollins College to provide three annual scholarships to the school. 2017 Orlando Business Journal awarded him the Philanthropist of the Year award.
