In a heartbreaking series of events, the Arizona community and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been reeling over the most heartbreaking loss of their dedicated employee, Gabriel Figueroa, who sadly passed away and left a lasting and profound impression behind, which can’t be filled again.
What happened to Gabriel Figueroa?
According to the GoFundMe page that was set up last year in May 2023, Gabriel Figueroa has been going through health challenges since last year. Gabriel was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer and underwent numerous cancer treatments and harsh side effects of chemotherapy. He had been battling his cancer journey throughout the year.
To ease his burden in the expensive treatment of brain cancer and help him in fighting the cancer journey, A GoFundMe was set up on May 16, 2023, by Kassandra Amaya. Gabriel received extensive donations and support from the fund through his cancer journey, hoping for his recovery, but due to the excessive progression of a brain tumor, he sadly passed away recently.
Gabriel Figueroa
Gabriel Figueroa was a dedicated employee of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, where he was serving his role as a corrections lieutenant, badge# 5268. He served in Pima County for almost 20 years. In 2004, Gabriel joined the department and showed his exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment to the department with his multiple roles throughout his career. His hard work and excellence made him a great Pima County Sheriff’s Department leader.
He was a dignified man who was always ready to help others and never expected anything in return. He always showed his support to everyone and shared a genuine bond with his people. His selfless nature gave him a distinctive place in the community. On his demise, the Pima county sheriff’s Department released a statement on Facebook where they shared their heartfelt outpourings on the demise of their beloved employee.

A GoFundMe was set up to collect donations for the expense of expensive medical treatment to assist Gabriel in his recovery journey and ease the burden on his wife and two children. Since May till today, people have been donating extensively and showing their support. According to the latest update on January 19, 2024, it was declared that Gabriel was in hospice care, and the organizer expressed appreciation for people’s support and donations in his journey.
Fund: $22 000 has been raised with 276 donations; however the target is to reach the $50,000 goal.
