The reason for the absence of Héctor Herrera in the Madrid derby has already come to light and it is a tragedy related to the pandemic.
The footballer’s mother died of coronavirus at the age of 57. The Atlético de Madrid player is in Mexico for that reason.

Since Friday, ‘HH’ was absent from mattress training for personal leave. An injury, the coronavirus, and now the death of his mother have caused the midfielder to have only had six minutes so far in 2021.
The footballer traveled with his family to experience these difficult moments and, obviously, had the permission of Atlético.
A few days ago, Herrera was infected with Covid-19, a disease that he later managed to overcome and turn out negative.
We send our sincere condolences to Héctor Herrera and the rest of his family.
Herrera and her family are originally from the state of Baja California.
