Brooklyn-born actor Stuart Damon, who for decades played Dr. Alan Quartermaine on the popular series “General Hospital,” has died at age 84.

The veteran television star had been battling kidney failure in recent years, according to ABC7 Eyewitness News reporter George Pennacchio, who reported his passing.

Stuart’s son Christopher Damon told ABC7 that his father enjoyed his three decades on the longest-running American television series still in production.

“It was his favorite place to be. He loved playing Alan and was always very grateful for that role and that job. It was his passion, “Christopher said.
