Nightbirde Died

Former ‘America’s Got Talent contestant dies of cancer at 31.

Jane Marczewski, known for participating in “America’s Got Talent” in the United States, died of breast cancer yesterday, aged 31. On social media, the singer used to share her battle with the disease.

“We are saddened to hear of her passing,” talent show host Terry Crews said on Instagram. “Our condolences go out to hir family and closest friends at this difficult time. We love you Nightbirde,” he wrote.

Jane Marczewski, nicknamed Nightbirde, received a standing ovation from the judges on the NBC show with her audition performance of an original song, “It’s Okay,” in June of last year.

In early August, a few weeks after her performance, the singer-songwriter announced that she was withdrawing from the competition, explaining that her “fight with cancer was demanding all her energy and attention”.

On Twitter, one of the judges of “America’s Got Talent”, Howie Mandel, also echoed the death of Jane. “As awful as I am about her death, I feel lucky to have known, heard, and known her.”

Nightbirde performed the song “It’s OK,” which she wrote with her in mind of the past few years battling cancer. With sensitive lyrics and melody, the song won over the judges, and Simon Cowell, considered one of the most demanding judges, took the singer straight to the live shows by pressing the “Golden Buzzer” (“Golden Button”).

But due to her health, Nightbirde had to leave the reality show before moving on to the final. In a post on the internet, she explained:

“[…] Since my hearing, my health has deteriorated and the fight against cancer is demanding all my energy and attention. I am very sad to announce that I will not be able to continue this season of ‘AGT’. Life doesn’t always give those who deserve time off, but we already knew that.”
