Maestro Mike Finnigan, who was a former keyboardist, vocalist, and session musician, passed away at age 76, a source close to his family reported that he succumbed to kidney cancer Wednesday morning at Ceder Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Among the extensive repertoire of artists that Mike Finnigan participated with are Jimi Hendrix, Cher, Ringo Star, Jane’s Addiction, Rod Stewart, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Crosby, Stills & Nash, just to name a few.

He also provided keyboards for legendary soul and blues singer Etta James for over two decades. In the same way, Finnigan participated with Taj Mahal and the Phantom Blues Band which earned him not one, but two Blues Music Awards.
