The American singer has presented a hip-hop theme with electronic sounds and a philosophical message
The singer Billie Eilish (Los Angeles, 19 years old) premiered the song Therefore I Am this Thursday, a hip-hop theme in which she has returned to electronic sounds. The artist, the winner of four Grammy Awards this year, has accompanied the song with a video in which she walks alone in a shopping center in Los Angeles (USA) where she used to meet her friends years ago, this time alone and with no one around.
The theme seems to have a clear philosophical inspiration, from the very title Therefore I Am, which means Therefore I am, in reference to René Descartes, author of the famous “I think, therefore I am”; until its cover, in which a white bust of classic style is broken. Eilish assured in social networks that she was nervous about this new creation and her brother and regular producer, Finneas, said: “It is bad that I say it, but this topic is amazing.”
With her usual discretion, Eilish has barely given details of her new compositions, although, of the three single tracks she has released since the release of her first album, this is the one that most points to be a possible preview of more extensive work. This summer, the artist premiered My Future, entirely during confinement, in which she put aside her more electronic side and opted for a more organic sound, with piano ballad sounds, rhythms closer to R&B, and cadence between funk and the Jazz. Earlier this year he released No Time To Die, the soundtrack for the next James Bond film, which has delayed its release due to the pandemic and took over from Everything I Wanted, released in late 2019.
