Best met his longtime friends and collaborators, Danny McBride and Jody Hill, at the UNC School of the Arts in North Carolina. Together, they created the series ‘De Culo y costs down’ (‘Eastbound & Down’ in its original title), of which he also wrote and produced several episodes, and was on the air between 2009 and 2013. In it, McBride plays Kenny Powers, A famous downtrodden baseball player who loses his league position and decides to return to his hometown to work as a team coach at his old high school.
Best also wrote the fantasy comedy ” Knights, Princesses, and Other Beasts,” starring McBride, James Franco, Rasmus Hardiker, Toby Jones, Justin Theroux, Zooey Deschanel and Natalie Portman and directed by David Gordon Green.
