The director of ‘The Burning Plan’ loses his mother due to the consequences of the coronavirus
The writer and filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga, winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes, announced on Twitter that his mother died from the aftermath of Covid-19.
He, also nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for Babel, used his official account on January 17 to share the news with his just over 209 thousand followers.

“My mother just died, she never complained about anything. Always sweet. He got over it, but not the aftermath. The sadness is enormous, ”Arriaga wrote on the social network.
Last year, the writer released his sixth book, “Salvar el Fuego,” which was the winner of the 2020 Alfaguara Prize.
