It is reported that George McGinnis, the American former professional basketball player, was on life support and was battling with some unknown circumstances about his health. His friends and family were making prayers for him.
But unfortunately, through a Facebook post, It is confirmed that he has passed away.
Who is George McGinnis? A Basketball Star
George McGinnis was a fantastic person. He rose from the basketball-rich state of Indiana. George McGinnis has a memorable and excellent mark on the support community. He liked and loved playing basketball. It is his passion, and did play great for Indiana University. He was the top scorer in the Big Ten when he served there.
Then, he joined the ABA (American Basketball Association). Ultimately, McGinnis became one of the Indiana pacers’ most essential and prominent players. He had made a powerful powerhouse trio with Mel Daniels and Roger Brown. Together, they secured two remarkable championships for the team. McGinnis was honoured with All-Rookie and, in the 1974-75 season, He shared season MVP honours, with a massive boost of impressive averages of 29 points and 14 rebounds per game.
Surgery of George McGinnis’
George went through back surgery. His beloved wife encouraged him to the surgery, and he went through it then. George was being treated for spinal stenosis, which is a genetic condition which got even more severe by his 11 seasons in professional basketball.
The decision to have surgery wasn’t easy for him because he already had an infection. but Dr. David Schwartz offered him a solution: titanium discs to straighten and strengthen McGinnis’s spine.
A Legacy in Basketball
George McGinnis was a three-time NBA and ABA All-Star. He was famous for being exceptionally good at basketball, especially in the significant area. His skill sets in this game, typically his size and ever-muscular strength, have been outstanding since he was there. He always played in the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star series; he scored 53 points and got 30 rebounds. Coach Adolph Rupp, one of the most famous coaches in basketball, also praised him for his achievements and skilful game.
