Nuwan Gunawardana, a famous vocalist from Sri Lanka, passed away last evening, December 8, 2022. He died recently while undergoing care at the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital.
Veteran Sri Lankan vocalist Nuwan Gunawardana passed away on December 8 2022. According to his family, he was being treated in a Colombo hospital when he died.
Death’s exact reason is still a mystery. The funeral arrangements will be published later. His friends and relatives are all mourning him, remembering him, and expressing their sympathy on social media.
Mourning his passing, Chethiya Prabhashana stated, “Alumni of our village Mahanama in Battaramulla had assembled a mat. I saw Nuwan Gunawardana for the first time that day. A man with ears while Nuwan is singing is tough to sit in a chair and listen. Therefore, I won’t shout again if Nuwan Kiri says, “Hey, I want to dance,” when we are on the beach. Dear Nuwan Gunawardana, safe travels! ”
Gunawardana is renowned for his well-known songs like Pawee Giyawe, La Sanda Eliye, Sanda Men Bala, Kandulinma Gayu, Pawanak Se, Apa Dedena, Akasha Ganga, Sahil Pawane, and many others. He is also one of the prominent playback singers in Sinhala films shot in Sri Lanka.
