In the US, a young flight instructor died, killed by the negligence of an 18-year-old student who allegedly raised the nose of the plane too much, causing it to crash to the ground.
Viktoria Theresie Izabelle Ljungman, the 23-year-old instructor, boarded her plane with 18-year-old Oluwagbohunmi Ayomide Oyebode around 3 pm on Thursday 6 October for a simple lesson.
The tragedy, however, was consummated when the boy decided to point the nose of the aircraft too high, during take-off: this caused the plane to rise to 1000 feet, making it stall and later making it inevitable to crash into a ditch, such as reports WMAR, the Baltimore TV station.
Oyebode, a native of Maryland, and another 18-year-old male were the only other people on the plane. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The accident is investigated
Hampron University wanted to release a statement regarding the tragedy: “ Hampton University is aware of the unfortunate accident that occurred today which involved two of our students. The exact cause of the accident is being investigated. Out of respect for the students and their families, we have no further comments at this time ”.
The authorities have opened an investigation and have been investigating the causes of death for days. The results of the autopsy examinations on the bodies of the two young people and the analysis of the black box, to verify the dynamics of the flight, are anxiously awaited.
Myana Mabry, Viktoria’s housemate, wanted to remember her like this, speaking to a local broadcaster: “ We were two roommates with two completely different cultures, but we complemented each other so well. We were each other’s teachers. She was really someone you only met once. And I will love her until the next day forever “.
