Last Tuesday, a four-vehicle collision on Western Boulevard at Dan Allen Drive resulted in one woman’s death and another victim hospitalized.
Wanza Cole, a 62-year-old woman, passed away in a terrible car accident. Wanza’s car severely hit another, and she got injured and passed away because of the sudden strong hit. Her family is suffering from a challenging phase of life as they lost her.

Who was Wanza Cole?
Johnson, the nephew of Wanza Cole, summarized his aunt’s personality. Wanza Cole was a 62-year-old woman with a kind heart and hilarious humor. Johnson said:
“She’ll make you laugh. Will have no anger in her body. Just a person you love to be around.”
She was West Cary Middle School’s principal for over a decade. She was a talented woman who lived her life respectfully. Many people promoted racism, primarily for black skin people who didn’t get much attention or opportunity, but still, with her dedication and self-commitment, she became the first black principal of West Cary Middle School.
Regretfully, Cole’s career ended in controversy when she claimed Wake County Public Schools, claiming she was the victim of racial discrimination after being dismissed from her principalship at West Cary Middle to an administrative post.
In 2021, the matter was appealed to the Supreme Court, where it was eventually dismissed. After that, she didn’t appeal again and accepted her retirement to spend time with her husband, Kenneth.
What happened with Wanza Cole?
It occurred around 2:15 p.m. on the North Carolina State University campus on the Western Boulevard eastbound lanes, which go to downtown Raleigh. Wanza Cole, 62, was traveling east on Western Boulevard in a Honda Accord when she approached the crossroads and did not stop, according to Raleigh Police. Her vehicle collided with an Audi Q3, pushing it into a Land Rover.
Following the first collision, Cole’s Honda slipped into the right lane and collided with a Dodge Avenger in the lane to the right of the Land Rover stopped at a traffic light.
Cole’s injuries from the crash caused her to pass away immediately. Injuries to one of the other drivers were considered not to be life-threatening.
While investigators looked into the incident, Eastbound lanes were blocked, but the road will soon open again at 6:10 p.m. However, the RPD officers continue searching for evidence by investigating that path.

The Cole community is suffering from a terrible phase of life, where they lost a beloved part of the family. They need some time to recover from this trauma, and maybe that’s why the Cole family didn’t disclose the details of the Wanza funeral; we hope they will disclose it soon.
