One student was murdered, and another was wounded early on Sunday morning in what Oxford police described as a hit-and-run behind Oxford City Hall, leaving a Mississippi family and the larger Ole Miss community in mourning.
According to the authorities, Walker, a junior who had just turned 21 hours earlier, passed away after being allegedly hit by a truck close to the square after one in the morning.
Walker’s visitation will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson on Wednesday, October 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
In 2020, Fielder earned his graduation from Jackson Academy. He learned biology from Audrey Wilkinson, and he still treasures some of those amusing incidents.
Wilkinson remarked that Walker was the sort of student who would try to divert the conversation by bringing up golf, fishing, or hunting. “He was one of those people, you know, who wanted everyone to be comfortable and participating.
Walker was the kind of person you wanted around you at all times. He always had a buddies nearby because he had many hobbies—different friendship groups.
The Fielder family chose a close friend to speak on their behalf since they were too distraught to do so in public.
Barry Burks, the Fielder family’s representative, stated:
Walker was a standout student and a leader in his Ole Miss fraternity. He was the image of what the men of Sigma Chi strive to be. His brothers, staff members, and alums who were pleased to know him praised him for his loyalty, consideration, and affection. The outstanding pledge class he worked to develop this past year as Rush Chairman will carry on his legacy. He attends Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, together with his family.
Walker’s high school Disciple Group Leader and I had the honor of accompanying him on his spiritual journey from sixth through twelfth grades. Walker was a devout Christian who cherished his relationships with his loved ones.
