Uma Pemmaraju, the first anchor of Fox News Channel, has died. From 1992 to 1996, Pemmaraju worked at WBZ before moving on to FOX News and then Bloomberg News in New York City. Uma Pemmaraju was only 64 years old when she died.
Her passing has upset her family, who are currently asking for privacy. The reason of death was not promptly made public.
She was born in India, raised in Texas, and honed her skill at local stations in Dallas, Baltimore, and WBZ-TV in Boston before moving to New York to help launch Fox News Channel. Her family mentioned her as a “noble soul and pioneer” to WBZ-David TV’s Wade.
Uma died divorced. She was married to millionaire businessman Andrew Petkun, but the couple divorced. She is the mother of one child, a girl, and thus has only one daughter. Kirina Alana Devi is the name of her daughter.
Pemmaraju was one of the few Indian-American anchors to achieve national acclaim, and both viewers and Fox News colleagues adored her.
Pemmaraju has also hosted several Fox News specials, including “A Special for Young People,” which features top newsmakers offering advice on life challenges to young adults. On Mother’s Day 2012, Pemmaraju was surprised when her daughter appeared live on-air during a Fox News segment.

She is said to have had a net worth of $4 million at the time of her death.
