According to Jeffress Funeral Home in Virginia, Tyrone Davis, a former tight end for the NFL, passed away on October 2. He was fifty years of age.

The New York Post found Davis’s obituary on the Jeffress Funeral Home website. Services were performed on October 8 after his death on October 2. Jerry Ratcliffe, a beat reporter for the Virginia Cavaliers, claims that Davis passed away due to an unspecified sickness.

At the University of Virginia, where he set a school record with 28 touchdown receptions, Davis was selected by the Jets in the wide receiver round of the 1995 NFL Draft. In his eight-year career with the Jets and Packers, he caught 13 touchdown passes.

Before the 1997 season began, the Jets traded Davis to the Packers after converting him to a tight end.

In addition to the 28 touchdowns, Davis concluded his time at Virginia with 103 receptions for 2,153 yards. With ten touchdown catches in 1994, he led the ACC.

Davis recorded 73 receptions, 795 yards, and 13 touchdowns throughout his eight-year career in 75 games.

At the Meadowlands during a Packers rout of the Giants, 37-3, in 1998, Davis caught Brett Favre’s 200th career touchdown pass, marking the pinnacle of his career.

From 1997 through 2002, Davis was a member of the Packers. He was a member of the 1997 team that won the Super Bowl. He played in the NFC Championship but was ineligible for Super Bowl XXXII.
