Tyler Ford, a 29-year-old Hamilton resident, died on the New Jersey Turnpike on a Saturday night due to an accident.
Tyler Ford suffered severe injuries in a fatal motorbike crash resulting from a four-car collision. The New Jersey State Police are looking into the situation to shed light on the circumstances that resulted in this tragic death.
The Accident Investigation:
On the southbound side of the New Jersey Turnpike, notably on the outer carriageway near milepost 78.8, the collision happened at around 10:17 p.m.
The sequence of events, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, spokesman for the State Police, went as follows:
- Initial Collision: Near milepost 78.7, a Mitsubishi Outlander was driving south when the driver came across some road debris. The driver attempted to dodge it but lost control of the automobile, resulting in a single-car accident. After becoming partially incapacitated, the Mitsubishi sat in the left lane and on the left shoulder.
- Multi-Vehicle Impact: After the first collision, a Toyota hit the Mitsubishi that was disabled, worsening the situation. The Toyota was hindered mainly due to the collision, blocking the left and center lanes. The collision between a BMW X3 and the immobilized Toyota worsened the traffic gridlock. The three disabled cars finally came into contact with a BMW 330i, which stopped in the left lane.
