“Wow, I’m at a loss for words. Troy had a young kid with juvenile diabetes who knew about me and my diabetes. Troy reached out to me and thought it would be cool for me to join the JDRF team and sport a Team JDRF sticker on my racecar. One night there was a raffle to support JDRF in Watertown at the racetrack, and I was there watching and purchasing tickets. I remember Troy drawing the ticket, making eye contact with me, and saying, “, Wow, this is fitting, as this young man was diagnosed with diabetes at age 14 and is a team member of JDRF. I have known this young man well and consider him a good friend.” Troy would randomly message me, wondering how the family and I were doing. Troy, you were a man and will be missed by everyone! RIP Troy Benson.”
Troy Benson was born and raised in Watertown, South Dakota. His secondary schooling was finished at Watertown High School. Many people who knew him thought highly of him and will sincerely miss him.
