Tracy Brown, the acclaimed writer of White Lines from Staten Island, New York, passed tragically suddenly. On Saturday, May 20, 2023, she passed away surrounded by his loved ones and family.

On Sunday, her death was announced through a Facebook post that read:

“Our mom, the illustrious Tracy Brown, passed away on 5/20/23. There’s so much to say about her that we don’t have the words for now. We will keep her name and legacy in high esteem, and we ask you to keep us lifted in prayer. We also ask for privacy as we mourn an unfathomable loss.”

The cause of her death is unknown to the general public; the family will shortly make specifics about the funeral rites public.

About Tracy Brown:

Tracy Brown was born and raised in Staten Island, a part of New York City, and has lived there her entire life. Brown hadn’t reached adulthood when she found she was expecting her daughter. But despite the odds, she was able to complete high school. She has two sons who are also her children. She attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice before.

She was the founder of the nonprofit. We Are Ladies First, LTD, which works to educate, uplift, and empower Staten Island’s young women. Additionally, she mentored young women and instructed them in writing in a penitentiary setting as part of the New York State Foster Care System.

Brown’s bestsellers Aftermath, Snapped, Twisted, White Lines, and Criminal Minded by Tracy Brown were all published by Essence. Her enthusiasm for writing has always been unwavering, and she considers it an honor to share her experiences with readers through her writing.

I don’t know how to put this into words! This beautiful soul, who touched so many lives in person and through her writings and words, was called home to be with the angels. Her smile and her fun-loving personality would illuminate any environment. Tracy Brown, the author, was a blessing from God. She shared her talent by challenging our imagination and questioning our inner thoughts by reading her books. Her writings were so influential and realistic that one might’ve thought she was writing about them. I can go on and on and on about this little firecracker I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, working with, loving, and calling one of my most authentic, dearest friends!!! I never question God’s plan, but I do wonder, in obscurity, why !! I trust the process! Please pray for her family and loved ones who are deeply hurt. I will miss you; I will miss you, my friend. Rest Easy until we meet  again. R.I.P Tracy Brown.”
