Shoaib Malik, a former Pakistani professional cricketer, announced his second marriage with Pakistani actress Sana Javed on Saturday, January 20, 2024, after a ‘unilateral divorce’ with his former wife, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. The news surprised his loyal fans and sparked discussion on social media platforms.
Sania Mirza did not remark on the incident, but her father confirmed that she used her right to divorce her former husband, Shoaib Malik, through a ‘Khula.’ An Indian news magazine quoted Sania’s father, Imran Mirza, saying that “it was a khula,” which is the right of a Muslim woman to divorce her husband unilaterally.
Shoaib Malik, who has a five-year-old son with Sania Mirza, took to social media and released photographs of his new wife with a caption that read,
“Alhumdullilah,” and quoted a Quranic verse that said, “And we created you in pairs.”

Rumors of Malik dating Pakistani actress Sana Javed, formerly married to renowned Pakistani singer/songwriter Umair Jaswal, have been making rounds for a while. The ex-cricketer fueled the speculations when he wished the actress “Happy Birthday Buddy” on her birthday last year, along with a picture of the two.
The ex-professional athlete also defended the “Pyaare Afzal” famed actress amid controversy alleging her rude behavior towards junior and make-up artists on the set. “I have known Sana Javed for quite some time now and have had the opportunity to work with her multiple times,” wrote Shoaib Malik in a post on X (formally known as Twitter) back in March 2022, “from my personal experience I can only say that she has always been kind & courteous towards me & the people around us.”
