Rick Eshelman Died: What Was His Cause Of Death?

We were shocked to read about Rick Eshelman’s demise. He is renowned as the World of Outlaws Late Models’ voice. He was 61.

Brian Carter, CEO of World of Outlaws, said, “It is with extreme regret and astonishment that we learn we lost our brother Rick Eshelman.” Please pray for his family, the World of Outlaws and DIRTcar families, and his numerous friends throughout the nation.

As the announcer for the World of Outlaws post-model series, Rick is well-known to fans worldwide. He completed a 40-year career when honored with induction into the Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame less than a month ago.

At midnight on Saturday, Eshelman was reported missing during his route from Paducah to Lincoln, Illinois. On his disappearance, there was not a lot of information.

Rick, though, was more than just a broadcaster. Along the way, he is everyone’s friend. His driver’s note card is legendary and rivals any electronic gadget in terms of a database. Moreover, Rick has a special place in his heart for the military because he served in the Air Force and frequently encouraged veterans who attend events to stand up and be acknowledged.

Rick attended Flat Rock Speedway as a child while living in Michigan. He began his career as a scorer before calling his first race at Flat Rock in 1979. Later, before enlisting in the Air Force, he worked at Toledo Speedway in Ohio. The renowned Tom Carnegie Announcer of the Year Award was given to him in 2012 by the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club.

There hasn’t been a formal declaration of the cause of death yet. Rest in peace. We will miss you.
