How did the incident occur?
The heartbreaking incident occurred after 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning on President Street close to Utica Avenue in Crown Heights, New York. Upon reaching the incident scene, the police discovered a young man, 21 years old, unconscious and not responding, lying on the floor. The authorities swiftly shifted the victim to Kings County Hospital by ambulance, where he lost his life due to the fatal shooting that occurred in Crown Heights.
Authorities reported that the young man was identified as Rapper Rico G, who was brutally shot and killed at 1677 President Street in Crown Heights on January 30, 2024.
Ongoing investigation
A Brooklyn City Police Department has been actively investigating the case through a thorough examination of the shooting scene and properly conducting the survey of surveillance cameras and witness statements. Till now, no update regarding the arrest or identification of the suspect has been disclosed, which shows that the suspect is still moving freely around the city.
The investigation is still underway, and authorities are trying their best to identify the motive of the shooting and the circumstances of the incident. In this distressing situation, law enforcement vigilance is highly remarkable, showing their commitment to their duties.
According to the recent murder data in NYPD, this shooting incident marks the first shooting incident and first homicide case in the 71st police precinct this year; however, from January 1 till January 21, it was recorded as 16 killings and 47 shooting cases in the five boroughs streets.
