Quillie Odom III, renowned former Virginia Tech Hokies linebacker from Manassas, who was famous for his exceptional athletic prowess and his qualities as a beloved husband and devoted father, has sadly met the end of his life after a brief illness. The untimely death has left his wife, Ashley and daughter, Ava, in mourning.
Cause of death
According to his family statement, Quillie Odom passed away on 19 December 2023 after suffering from a sudden brain aneurysm. A GoFundMe was organized in September for the support of the medical expenses of Quillie Odom, who was hospitalized in the ICU and on the waiting list for a heart transplant.
Quillie was born with a congenital heart condition in utero, due to which his heart ventricles were not fully developed. Surprisingly, his heart was functioning to some extent till 27 years of his life, and then in 2016, the signs and symptoms of the disease got worse, and he suffered from congestive heart failure.
In 2020, the complications increased, and he again suffered a stroke. Later, he visited on and off to the hospital due to the complaint of pneumonia, which caused extreme pressure or stress on his heart.
Due to continuous complications, he was diagnosed with ventricular noncompaction cardiomyopathy, which progressed rapidly into end-stage heart failure, which required an urgent need for a heart transplant. His family was waiting for the heart transplant, and after days and months of waiting, he could not get the heart transplanted and subsequently passed away due to a brain aneurysm.
